Body of Water 2025

Becoming Body of Water was inspired by how the body feels while we spend time immersed in the saltiness and serenity of the water at our coastlines, how the saltiness and serenity of that experience lingers on our bodies. My process involves painting the body, photographing it, and digitally editing it to represent different ecosystems in which we exist. Body of Water is both literal and metaphorical; it explores how bodies of water can signify relationality, journeys shaped by tides and time, interconnectedness, and the complexities of identity and belonging. Human bodies are composed of 60% water, undergo significant changes, and play a crucial role in ecosystems. A digitalised body adds further depth as it is pixelated, glitched, edited, and then reenacted or materialised in online ecosystems that invite you to reflect on your own sensory and emotional experiences with water, tides, and textures, engage your senses, and affect your emotions.

A digital body is pixelated, it becomes a glitch, edited and then reenacted or materialised. Reimagining our future bodies of water….
